This year’s annual Open Christianity lecture will be given in Belfast
and in Dublin. David Boulton, author of /Who on Earth was Jesus?// /will
speak in Dublin on the afternoon of *September 25* and in Belfast on the
evening of *September 27*.
What can we know about the human Jesus of history, and what is his relation to the Christ of faith? Is a first century Iron Age teacher still relevant in the 21^st century? How would modern society change if it took Jesus seriously? How would organised religion cope if we took Jesus back to church?
Quaker and humanist writer David Boulton will discuss these questions
and propose some radical answers for open discussion. His best-selling book /Who on Earth was Jesus?/ was described by former Bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway as “brilliant and timely, the perfect
resource”. Fr. Murray Watson in /The Catholic Register/ called it “accurate, informed and witty”. American scholar Marcus Borg described
it as “the best and most thorough account”.
* *David Boulton is an award-winning author, journalist and broadcaster.

Street on September 27.
